(CRN 61371)  Exploring Alternative & Traditional Health Modalities

Come and explore a variety of effective healing modalities, and learn how to make more informed decisions about your health. Through illustrated lecture and discussion, you’ll find out why interest in alternative and traditional health and healing methods are at an all-time high, and have the option of participating in several safe, experiential demonstrations of each modality. We’ll discuss Aromatherapy, Chinese Medicine, Flower Essences, Guided Imagery, Herbalism, Homeopathy, Massage, Meditation and Shamanism.

(CRN 61372)  Herbs for Massage

Community members and Licensed Massage Therapists are welcome to attend this class to learn how useful herbs are for massage. Discover how to make an herbal healing massage oil and a soothing herbal massage lotion. You will also get a review of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to massage, and find out how to use herbs for health and healing. This course provides six continuing education hours for Licensed Massage Therapists.

                         HERBALISM: A PRACTICAL INTRODUCTION
 
 

Start: Monday, January 9th

Time:  6:30-9:20pm

Course Description: This fun and fascinating one-day workshop will ignite your interest in herbs and fan the flames to a higher level. Be introduced to many different aspects of herbalism - culinary, medicinal, and cultural, herb gardening and wildcrafting, as well as scientific and spiritual perspectives. Students needs and abilities will help shape the direction of our class as we discuss how to create health and healing through the hands-on use of herbs. Instructor has been an Herbalist for over 25 years.

NOTE: Additional classes in this series, offered privately through GivingTree Farm Herb Company, will be available to interested students who want to continue further studies.

AN ILLUSTRATED TRIP THROUGH HERBS & RELIGION

Course Description:  The major religions of the world all have fascinating things to say about herbs and plants. Explore the history, culture and beliefs of both ancient and modern peoples from the comfort of the classroom. A surprising number of traditions involving herbs for ritual and healing survive to this day, come find out why. Preregistration required.

SWEET & SAVORY COOKING WITH CREPES

Start:  Saturday, January 21

Course Description: Easy to make, yet fun and rewarding, crepes are delicious, economical, and versatile. Create a variety of tasty fillings for this popular French pancake and explore some different and brand new uses for crepes. This class is also applicable to those looking to reduce or eliminate gluten from their diet and still enjoy delicious food! Register by Wednesday for Saturday class.

HEALTHY, NATURAL FASTING & CLEANSING

Course Description: Want to change your diet or detoxify your system naturally? Do you want information and support to see it through? Gain new information about healthy eating and experience the many benefits of a traditional cleansing program through the use of herbs, juices, simple foods and other proven methods.
